Back Up Plans

Bin
Guys, what do you plan to do if at all the results don't turn out in your favor? Not to sound demotivating but was just wondering what I should also think of if nothing turns out well! Inputs will be appreciated.

If results do not turn out in one's favour, it is always advisable to register for M.A Economics in distance mode in some universities like IGNOU. Even if you plan to repeat the entrance, this will ensure that you won't lose one more year if you are unfortunate next time too. Also, if you do M.A in distance mode you can still write the NET exam and qualify for lectureship. If you are not looking for placements or not planning to do PHD abroad, it does not make much difference if you do PG through distance mode.

You will get somewhere. Otherwise, get some work experience - join a 1 year graduate trainee program or try for a short-term internship. It will help you  wherever you go. Consider trying for Gold@18 this winter. Hmm, what else? Do some volunteering, go back-packing across Asia - a friend of mine traveled to Philippines and Burma in that time in a group of 10. Learn a new language - like french maybe. Taking a year off isnt that bad actually - it leaves you with a lot of introspection time and you can really grow if you plan it right.

The question is who will bell the cat! After screwing up entrances, i don't think too many will have the guts to propose, near your family, a trip with friends to foreign lands!
