Hammond is very descriptive and huge!

Is Chiang a substitute to it?

Actually both thw books are imp....
1st read chiang....dnt practice anythin.....just read as if u readin a story....give 2-3 days to dat...chapters to b covered are dere in study guide
after dat switch to hammond for practice....
acc. To me dis approach vl surely help u to get hold of maths concepts as just bieng able to solve questions is not enough, u hav to get intuition as well

Hi Akshay could you highlight important topics from Chiang ?
Iam following RS Bharadwaj , with necessary areas from Hammond . What's your take ?
And is there any solution book for Hammond ?

Re: Chiang VS. Hammond

I followed hammond just for questions and rs bhardwaj also has a whole variety of questions...so following a mix of both is  good strategy...
chaptrs to be dne from chiang are 1 to 12(3rd edition) nd 1-13(4th edition)...

I just have 3rd edition ?
Even , if I follow Hammond , what's the point when I don't have answers ? Hammond is really boring !

Re: Chiang VS. Hammond

Is Hammond mandatory from DSE point of view , or from the perspective of all entrances ? Because , since DSE is a part of du , they definitely include Hammond in their prerequisites. But what about other entrances ? There are so many non du students who must be following other guidelines. So in short topics and fundamentals matter or the fact that Hammond is mandatory , no matter what ?

Acc. to me chiang is mandatory for all entrances but i dnt think the same for hammond.
It wud be better if u do dat for DSE/ISI nd yeah its very boring....
