Hey can you please explian Q 1 of 2011? Second and third derivatives at 1 are all zero, so how is it point of minimum?

Well d func can b differentiated till 4th derivative....
I dnt remember whr i read it, there's dis logic,

if u get a +ve or -ve number @ even derivative d eqn's solution @ n-1 th derivative is point corresponding oderwise inflection point....


So here 4th derivative is positive so 3 (4-1)th derivative's solution is a point of minimization....

chinni use the Nth derivative test for determining optimum of a function. it states that

if f'(c)=0 and first non zero derivativ value occurs at Nth derivative ie f^n(c) not equals 0 all preceeding derivatives are 0 then c is
a relativ maximum if N is even and f^n<0
a rel min if N is even and f^n>0
inflection pt if N is odd

Yes  Prepare well with econometrics and keep one area of strength if they ask you that. And if you don't know an answer do not fake or spout theory, that apparently goes against you. One of my seniors told me this. And have a general idea of current hot topics and an opinion on the same.
I think that's about all the tips I can give, I'm also asking people for advice  I hope it goes okay. When's your date? 27 or 28?

hey Khagesh,last yr during his interview my friend was asked about whch he liked to study more micro or macro..he went on to say that he enjoyed studying micro during his first year and also that he had special interest in aspects of game theory..and there! he was questioned about the intricacies of ISLM and AD-AS model and a whole bunch of econometrics and nothing at all in micro..

so be well versed with the basic concepts even if u dont like studying about them.best of luck

If they get specific then we will have no choice but to answer what we can  Econometrics is stuff like hypothesis testing, regression, dummy variables, confidence intervals, etc. Refer to Gujarati or Koutsoyiannis
