hi kavya for dat probability q, do dis
in one urn place only 1 green ball ( dat way u r increasing the probability dat a green ball is selected) in d other urn place 50 red and 49 green balls. so ur prob value is
.5*1 + .5* 49/99 = .747
got it?

Q6) Clearly, "∼" is not transitive.
(As  y∼z and x∼z but x≻y)

Lets, look at transitivity of "≻".
To show: If x≻y & y≻z implies x≻z.
But, the antecedant is false as we're just given only one pair of strict preference relation(x≻y) and we need atleast two pairs of strict preference relation to reach some conclusion. So, the statement holds trivially.
Hence, "≻" is transitive.

Hey Abhyudaya in order to be able to solve Q 42. u will have to understand how the demand function is obtained for the  utility function mentioned. In the following link (pg. 2) I.C's of this particular utility have been given ...this might help...( it has helped me though i am yet to understand it completely) :D..best of luck !

Hey abhyudaya.. :)

For a given economy, a competitive allocation is that allocation where,
1>for a given price, each consumer is maximising his utility such that value of endownment equals value of good they are demanding.. and
2>demand = supply for all commodities.. (or markets clear)

Re: DSE Q

This time General Equilibrium is being taught by Anirban Sir in D-school. so, my proposition is gen eq questions would be conceptual and intuitive rather than a very technical one coz sir in class always talked about what it really meant rather than how to solve the numericals. And in fact, last year Gen Eq questions were just like that. I came from engg background and had a horrible time to figure out gen eq. so, what i did was downloaded solved questions of GE from google and figured it out. so, i guess you too can do it :)
