Arushi,

Please explain why you are not considering the colution x=-2? .. I thought the answer would be (b) -2 and 0..

Thanks a lot!

Arushi :))
Arey ,
If x = -2,
LHS = |-2-1| = 3
RHS = 2(-2)+1 = -3
So, -2 cant be the solution.
At x = 0, RHS = LHS = 1.

Re: JNU ECOM 2011 QUES 67-78

Arushi :))
Its given that total cost of producing 3 units is 7
So given the MCs,
OUTPUT , TOTAL COST, MARGINAL COST
0,3,0
1,4,1
2,5.3,1.3
3,7,1.7
4,9.3,2.3
5,12.30,3
6,16.2,3.9
7,21.2,5
8,27.7,6.5
9,35.9,8.2
10,45.9,10

75- total cost of producing 5 units is 12.30
76-for 7 units of output , total cost = 21.2
    for 0 units , total cost = 3 = fixed cost
    for 7 units variable cost = 21.2- 3= 18.2 => AVC = 18.2/7= 2.6
77- for 9 units , total cost = 35.9 and average cost would be 35.9/9= 3.99
78- If P = 6,
then at MC = 5 ,
firm will produce 7 units .

Re: JNU ECOM 2011 QUES 67-78

The sum
summation k from 1 to 100 (3+k) =
a)5053
b)5050
c)300
d)5350

This will be (3+1)+ (3+2)+ .... (3+100)
               = 3x 100 + (1+2+3+...100)
= 300 plus sum of first 100 natural numbers

(sum of first n natural numbers = n(n+1)/2)

= 300+5050
= 5350
which is d :)

Let Y=-e^x-2
y+2=-e^x
-(y+2)=e^x
take log both side
log(-y-2)=x
y can take value (-infinity,-2)
so option A

Re: JNU ECOM 2011 QUES 67-78

Q.74
The number formed will be divisible by 5 if the number formed by the last digit on extremely right (i,e.unit place) is divisible by 5. such no. are
5 and 0
so the no. of arrangements
9*8*7*2=1008
but we have to reduce those case where the 0 on the extremely left because if 0 is on extremely left then we get only 3 digit no.
those cases are
8*7=56
so total no. of arrangement
1008-56=952
