Hi.. Can anyone advise whether one should opt for TERI or Jamia? I want to go for academics or research after my masters!

Thanks in advance!

Teri has a Very rigorous course content, they reach you a lot, you've to study a lot. And trust me that's a good thing. A master in economics shouldn't be like a simple Orthodox type course. Jamia offers a very rigorous course that should be stopped right away to teach because they are not at all practical. Again that's my personal advice. Before choosing a college, look at these things 1. Course structure 2. Faculty 3. Future prospects.
Within course structure, see whether they teach good and bit advanced economics, statistics, mathematics and econometrics well or not because even for research, one has to know these 4 subjects very well. Teri people get to learn a lot and it is not at all like environment focused course. They have one paper of env in each sem but that doesn't mean you don't get to learn other subjects well.
Do one thing, download course syllabus for both and decide for yourself.

But jamia is known to be one among best universities in India and they invite some really prominent people as guest lecturers and all. It should be your call. I've seen people doing great after both jmi and teri but teri people seems to be more smart and knowledgeable.

Again, that's what I've observed, you should ask some more people before making choice. Best would be some people studying there or have studies there.

Thank you so much for your input . As per my research , majority of the good faculty of TERI  has left in the past one year or two! Also, there have been a 1-2 cases where people have left the course mid way due to lack of good faculty and even course content !

All this has actually increased my confusion so much

No! I talked to the current and recently passed out students from TERI and they provided me with this information. However I haven't talked to any Jamia students until now!

Teri definitely. The course is rigorous, you get to write a thesis which is the USP of the course especially if you want to go for research in the future, it is known to have placements at the undp and other such organisations.

I think Jamia is better! I know a couple of seniors studying in TERI and they're not at all happy with the faculty.

I think both have their pros and cons but personally I think teri is preferable. Its course content is better than jamia. Aldo Teri is known for good placements. Jamia certainly lacks in placements. One thing jamia has over Teri is its guest lecturers which are quite good. But I suppose that's not a very big draw in terms of choosing either. Yes Teri ki faculty is not that good but it's still competitive. Moreover envi eco has great scope after masters for research or otherwise. Abroad mein toh it's even higher. So decide on the basis of your course preference. If you want to go for pure eco, then certainly jamia( Here  I would also say that if placements are your criteria then you lose on the long run given the number of masters passouts from other in over universites, whom you have to compete with ) in any case, just see what you want in terms of course and then choose. All the best !
