Mphil JNU SSS and CSRD 2016

Ayushya Kaul
Hey, did anyone here give the entrance for either of the two?
If yes, just wondering how it went for all of you.

It went  okay. Attempted 51 marks.
What about you?

But pretty unsure. Any idea about cutoff?

I attempted around the same . 53 i guess.

Last year it was 68 or 69. after the interview.
and in 2014 it was 58 as far as i remember.
the  difficulty level of the paper matters!

Re: Mphil JNU SSS and CSRD 2016

I have a feeing this year's cut off will be similar to the one in 2014/15.
This is very probable due to these facts:
1) Pattern and format of paper is exactly the same in both years (2014 and 2016)
2) The co-relation with level of difficulty of the exam is more improbable given the fact that 2013 Mphil paper is arguably one of the toughest of the past 5 years, yet its cut off is much more than 2014 and marginally less than 2016.
3) Pattern of 2013 and 2015 paper is the same.

Both these facts lead me to this conclusion: this year's cut off would  be similar to the one in 2014.

Re: Mphil JNU SSS and CSRD 2016

to be honest i think this year was not even matching with the pattern of 2014.
they had an unseen passage we didn't. they had good maths and L.R questions we had 1 or 2.
and more so , the difficulty level of the paper was really high. I had solved past years , i had seen past years and none was as difficult. not even 2014. nor were there any repeated questions ( coz JNU repeats a lot) not even same "type" of questions were asked. I did not feel that it was a scoring paper . i expect the cut off to be low. i hope it will ..

Well yeah it was definitely not as easy as past year papers, no doubt about it. But apart from the passage , it was similar in the format of the paper to 2014. Hence I expect the cut off to be similar that is 48-50.

I mean growth questions are straight out of the door for JNU papers anyway,  Guha makes sure that no one can possibly solve it!
