Need guidance for career decision... Please help

scared
Hi,

I am 25 years old, have an engineering degree from Delhi University and work in the IT industry and have a decent salary. Due to some personal problems, I could never give much thought about my career and kept going with the herd. However, over the years, i have realised that i am more interested in concepts and analysis. I find economics quite attracting and am thinking of pursuing a masters in economics and have started preparing for next year's entrance exams.

I want to know if my age or engineering background would be a hindrance in me getting a good research position or a job in the future even if i get through a good college? i feel afraid that i might find a lack of opportunities if i try to change my career line at this stage.

I am quite confused. I would be really grateful if people from the field could share their experience and advise about what i should do.

Many Thanks

Well since you are from engineering background you will not have any problems with the mathematical treatments. Some of the most profound economists, Kalecki, Solow, etc who have contributed to concepts have been initially engineers who have gone on to do a Ph.D.
