Ph.D. from top 20 Dept.s

Friends, I want to have Ph.D. degree from any of top 20 univ.s of US or UK.
I have finished b.com. and am planning for DSE ma. But, as I have read this, I am worried as MA from DSE would really worth. See, I can't enter ISI as I have done b.com.

I am now worried whether I would have an opportunity after Ma from DSE to have Ph.D. in econ. from top departments?

I also am worried as they(top econ depts) require very good maths bckgrnd. I want to have real analysis course but I dont know from which institute I should take that course (or even any institute will offer me the same?).

Please help me. I will truly be obliged.

hello shreya......its good dat u wanna get a doctrate deg in economics.........for dat mastrs from ISI and DSE vl definately help u.....DSE is one of the best institutes in the world and a student here can made to phd in top universities......
coming to the maths part.....yes u hav to get hold of mathematics specially algebra......

I have no idea of getting a degree in algebra......anyone can sit in the DSE entrance test provided that u have atleast 60% marks in ur graduation (non economics background).....
start with the basics of algebra......go for 11-12 class maths R.D. sharma........and get hold of the book....fundamentals of mathematical economics by A.C. Chiang for conceptual understaning....3rd/4th edition
