I know that discussing news is not the tradition of this forum, but I think this artical should be read by every aspiring economist.
The most shocking thing is that kid will have to urinate from his rectum, for lifetime. We still are not out from that Budaun incident.... When will Achchhe Din come @ villages? |
Such a shameful incident..!!!I dont know weder this is the right place or not to discuss it here but i dont think that such kind of oppression can be eliminated from the society without a paradigmatic shift in the social structure which will be devoid of any kind of class conflicts in the superstructure. The root cause of all sorts of oppression is class conflict and its high time to eliminate it from our society or else we will have to continue living like this in the midst of such shameful incidents...truly a shame..!!!!!

This isnt the appropriate place to comment but i will add just this once - Toilets are indeed important. I am not sure whether to make light of this incident as much about finding a toilet, class structure etc as it would be about an internal squabble that was taken care of in such a barbaric way.
A combination of "brick-for-pebble mentality" spurred on by poverty, lesser developed ways of life held firmly in place by poverty and lack of law and order have perpetuated such incidents. I do agree with Subhayu regarding the imperative need for change in the thinking process. Education, harsher punishments and firmer law, order is the long-term solution. Consider acid-attacks for instance - The stories will leave one wondering about whom to blame anyway - the government for its paucity about acid sales or the people who use the acid to commit those heinous crimes? Having sky-high expectations from our representatives is a fallacy that a young nation like ours has often committed. The problem is much deeper than just the failure or inadequacy of leadership! Therefore, i wont jump the gun yet and i will pray for that poor child

To some extent , I do agree with Tsuki. Definitely , such cases revolve around multiple issues. The combination of weak law and order and poverty , trigger such problems. But that's not all. As , always , we have our dear government to blame for everything. However , the beginning of such crimes start from our own home. You tell me in today's fast paced life , how many parents have time to look after their children ? Take Arushi Talwar case. Her parents locked her in a room , with servants around , and went off for some party . And this is not about just Arushi , it's about all those families who often forget that their duty towards their children is not restricted to just provision of money , they ought to provide more than that - love , care and time. This highlights the issue of upbringing . In today's time people have become so repulsive and reactive. From Jessica Lal case , to this one , the agony and the pain endured by the victims is a result of this "explosive" attitude of people. If people would be taught , from the very beginning , to respect and to earn respect , I guess , such issues will subside on their own. And yes , gradually our government will improve too.
So let's pick up the broom ( not the AAP one :-p ) and start from our own doorstep. And let's pray for the child !! "An eye for an eye , makes the whole world blind"
