Rawlsian Social Welfare Function

Do bats eat cats?
I have a slight confusion over the terminology in Varian's text. It is mentioned that the Rawlsian function is also called the minimax function. Shouldn't it be called maximin instead? As I understand it, the idea is to maximise the utility of the least well-off individual.

The minimum utility is being maximized. In that sense the term minimax makes sense.

Thanks for the reply Vasudha! I guess the term minimax is just ingrained in my head as meaning minimising the maximum value.
