As for me sunny, I won't attempt any question unless I have a really good hunch and/or know the answer for sure. Because the negative marking has been dragging my score way below what it could have been. Also I'll be attempting those questions that I know before others, rather than going in order. Because I get stuck in one and waste my time in that without realising it.
What about you?

@chinni...
one of my seniors said me d following
"dont think of attempting d questions which u dont know or r clueless about.any guessing work will make ur score go much down in the exam,and that why what u r saying,is completely right.
i m thinking of attempting d questions in which i have good comfort level.
any idea..how many students r sitting in this exam?
the roll numbers r as high as from 0001 to 5000...that took away my breath!!!!

Re: STRATEGY IN DSE EXAM 2012

it depends upon the number of students scoring 40 plus in exam and also on d difficulty level of paper.
if d paper is tough,then not many score 40,n hence they keep cutoff at 40.
but if d paper is relatively average,then they increase the cutoff,so that at the end,they can finally take 120 odd students in their m.a program.
but believe me,it wont go higher than 50.
so cut off lies in d range 40-50(purely my guess)

Feels good discussing this stuff with everyone. Even I freaked out thinking of 5000 mysterious intelligent economics geniuses writing this paper   Good to know it's actually only half that number!

Oh and this is a silly addition to the strategy thread, but everybody please read the question carefully because I always miss out reading the word incorrect, when they ask which of the following is incorrect. Wastes a lot of time. I am sure no one is this careless, but it's something I frequently do
