hello :)
shirley only cares about the total quantity of bear she has..therefore for her  one 16 ounce can is equal to 2 8 ounce cans.
but in secnd part in any case only 8 ounce is consumed. Therefire one 16 ounce can is equal to one 8 ounce can.
