a problem on correlation from dse

q) the correlation coefficient between x and y is 'r' and the correlation coefficient between x and (x+y) is 'R'.

i) r>R
ii) r<R
iii) r=R
iv) can't be determined

Ans :(iii) r=R....coz correlation coefficient is independent of the change in origin.

@sweta....that would have been true if the variables for the second set were 'x' and 'y+k', where k is a constant..but here we are considering 'x' and 'y+x'...i don't think change of origin applies here

P.S. : this prob's from msqe 2005 (10)..not dse.
