Suppose X & Y are independent random variables with standard normal distributions. The probability of X< -1 is some p belongs to (0,1). What is the probability of the event: X^2>1 and Y^3>1 ? answer is 2p^2.. cn sm1 pls explain hw.

P(X^2>1) = P(X<-1) + P(X>1)= 2p
P(Y^3>1)= P(Y>1) = p (bcoz they both have the same distribution)
Multiply the two bcoz they r independent events.
