Q).  ICICI bank collects data on 1000 respondents. Out of the 6800 men, 4200 have credit cards, and out of the 3200 women, 2500 have credit cards. Out of the men with credit cards, 1200 have unpaid balances, whereas out of the women with credit cards, 1400 have unpaid balances. What is the probability that an individual selected at random is a man without an unpaid balance ?
a) 0.68
b) 0.56
c) 0.12
d) 0.84

Hi, it should be 10000 respondents

P(man with no unpaid balance)=P(man with paid balance OR with no credit card)=P(man with paid balance)+P(man with no credit card)-P(man with paid balance and no credit card)
P(man with paid balance and no credit card) =0

thus P(man with paid balance OR with no credit card)=P(man with paid balance)+P(man with no credit card)

P(man with paid balance)=6800/10000x4200/6800x3000/4200=3000/10000
P(man with no credit card)=6800/10000x2600/6800=2600/10000

P(man with paid balance OR with no credit card)=3000+2600/10000=0.56
