The maximization problm does not hav a solution by he following arguements

the domain is given to be an open set x belongs to (0,1)....consider a value x=x1 such that it belongs to (0,1) and very close to 1, now there exists an epsillon>0 such that x1+epsillon also belongs to the set (0,1)
the function is strictly increasing in x so higher the value of x higher will be te value of the function x^2
x1^2 < (x1+epsillon)^2
so no solution

1.
They are equal at Q = 0 only
For 4

a) Its a case of balanced budget multiplier in closed economy,
So delta G should be 5000 as balanced budget multiplier will be 1.
 b)
Y = 0.8( Y-T ) + G + X - 0.2Y
Y = 0.6 Y - 0.8T + G + X
AGain applying balanced budget multiplier,
delta G = Delta T
0.4 delY = 0.2 delG
dely / delG = 0.5
so to get a change of 50000 delg must be 10000
@ sonia, please let me know what are you getting for this one
