q 29 2008 DSE

hi... i'm having a problem in this question...it is obvious that statement 3 is correct.
but how can statement 2 be right - P(y=1 | x=2 ) = 0.3 whereas p(y=1 | x=1 ) = 0.1 .. or am i reading the table wrong?
statement 1 is definitely false.
and 4 is also false !!
please advise. or maybe i'm seeing the numbers incorrectly?? Can anyone please let me know. Thank you in advance! :)

hey aditi,
pr(Y=1|X=2)=P(Y=1 and X=2)/P(X=2)= .3/.6=.5 (conditional prob).....and similarly P(Y=1|X=1)=.5 thats hw equal

Ah even I was puzzling over this. Conditional probability did not even occur to me because the table was right there. Thank you!
