For question no. 9, REI of the same paper,, can somebody confirm the following answers?

part (a),, i am getting a =(-1+sqrt of 5)/2 or a=(-1-sqrt of 5)/2 and the function is differentiation at x=0 for both the values of a.

part (b) maximum value of x1x2 =8.
