JNU is known for lot of things. It is known for super freedom given to students. It is known as Harvard of India. I don't think any bigger recognition can be given to JNU than that. I personally love JNU. It's the most energetic campus i have ever been to. Having said that, I like IGIDR course better than JNU though both are competent enough. And again for a Phd aspirant, what good place is for him/her than campus of central bank.
JNU course does has some lovely courses on maths. Like linear economic models, optimization theory, econometrics but IGIDR offers you more choices and can knock out JNU course any day or night.
