i don't know d ans . but i tell u what i understood . there are two goods that they are eating one is restaurants goods with price say p1 and the other goods say with price p2 . plan a says they eat together at the restaurant both the goods  and each pays his own bill that is the amount each consumed i.e p1X + p2y =m  and plan b says each pays 1/2 of the total restaurant bill i.e 1/2 (p1x).
