(0,4,5) will be the choice of player 2....!!!!

Re: DSE 2013

This is because (0,6,3) cannot be a case because atleast one player has to be made better of as compared to (3,3,3)...also if he chooses (0,3,6) he can improve to (0,4,5) or (0,5,4) but out of the rest if he opts (0,5,4) the third player votes for N and proposes (0,4,5) in that case player 2 will have to vote Y because that will give him an opportunity to make himself better off as compared to (3,3,3)...so if 1's proposal is rejected then (0,4,5) will be the optimal solution...(remember in any case 1 votes N, because 3>0)...!!!!!

for question number 24 the answer will be (1/26)...the solution can be obtained by linear approximation of the function around the point x=1 or -1...now if we approximate the function around x=1 we get
f(x)= 8+26*(x-1),
f inv = (x-18)/26.
f'inv = 1/26.
Similarly for x=-1,
f(x)=8-26*(x+1)
f inv= (x+18)/26.
f' inv= (1/26)......
so the answer is 1/26

Hey..subhyana..can you help with  42 and 43... the budget line is straight and it seems, the indiffrence curve is also a straight line...hence it shud be a border solution..but unable to get any matching ans.....also for 12 and 13..for 12 i am solving it as a cournot equilibrim, but after doing all the crazy algebta, i am not getting the ans...can you please upload the working..thanks :)

Why have you done approximation around 1,-1?

This is because its given that at f(x)=8 we have to find the inverse, and f(x)=8 at x=1 or x=-1.

Subhayu, shouldn't the ans to 28th be (0,5,4) because the question says that if Player 3 votes for N then the allocation (3,3,3) would be implemented.

Re: DSE 2013

Yes Neha ur right (0,5,4) will be optimal..because if 1's allocation is rejected, it is only 3 who will vote for and hence if he votes N then 3 will be worse off so (0,5,4) will maximize 2's playoff...i dint notice if Player 3 votes for N then the allocation (3,3,3) would be implemented part..thanx a lot..!!!!

In that case for the next part optimal strategy for 1 will be (5,0,4) i guess..because in that case 2 will vote N and 3 will vote Y, now the voting power will again come to 1 since there is one Y and one N, now 1 will vote Y and this allocation will be implemented.

Yep, 29th will be (5,0,4).
30th should be (c), right?
