Re: DU Notification

ojaswini
Yes, it is applicable to dse also. Top 60 students of b.a hons eco in d.u would get a direct admission to dse.

Re: DU Notification

That means less seats even for d.u people who are not in the top 60 percentile, or in a different course.

Hey Ojaswini,
Are you sure about it ? Are you saying this only after reading the notification or any other source ?

Yes, I'm sure. Our college lecturers informed us about this, but we were apprehensive at first. The notification just confirms it in writing.

Check the corrigendum (published By DU on February 13) to their earlier notification! Read pt. 4 which says some departments are exempt from following the admission related guidelines stated in their notification dated 31-1-2014.
But who knows if DSE is included in these departments who are exempt from following these new guidelines!!??

Ref:
Link (1) DU Notification dated 31 Jan, 2014
Link (2) DU Notification dated 13 Feb, 2014
Link (3) MA (Econ) - Eligibility

Note 1) Point 2(b) in Link (1) says "All the Faculties/Departments except the Faculties/Departments offering Inter-disciplinary or professional courses, shall earmark 50% of the total intake to be filled by direct admission of the students of University of Delhi and remaining 50% of the admission through entrance test plus interview, if any."

Note 2) Point  3 in Link (2) defines Inter-disciplinary or professional courses as "Inter-disciplinary or professional courses for the purpose of admission to the post graduate/ Masters courses shall include the courses for which candidates from all the streams/subjects shall be eligible for admission"

Note 3) Link (3) tell us that anyone with "First Class with 60% or more marks in Graduate/Post-graduate degree in any other subject from the University of Delhi or any Indian University recognized by the University of Delhi" is eligible for admission.

So Note 2) and Note 3) implies that MA(Economics) is an Inter-disciplinary or professional course. So, by Note 1) the rule of 50% is not applicable.
