How did we get that "point"?

SINGHAM
The distance of the curve, y=x^2 , from the straight line  2x-y=4 is minimum at the point (1,1).

I can find out that x=1, but how did we get y=1 ? can't y=0, too?

for the ditance quest..
use perpendicular distance formula which is
d=(ax+by+c)/sqr root a^2 + b^2
nw take pt as x1,y1 and substitute for y as = y1=x1^2
minimising d we get x1=1
therfore y1=1

The number of positive pairs of integral values of (x, y) that solves 2xy-4x^2+12x-5y=11 is 2. How are we guaranteed that it is only two and no more?

Take exponential and write it like e^{ 1/
x^2[sinx-x]/x}
 use sinx series
sinx= x-x^3/6+.....

I hpe this is the way...cant find a better alternative

What is the question? Please explain! I can't understand what does "the percentage of those who

I think its a question of conditional probability
where in you have  to find probability of those who read newspapers regularly given that they completed only school education
