JNU is awesome for pursuing academics after a masters but i believe placements are not good at all. whereas, it appears, that IGIDR provides both options to a good degree - a placement as well as further studies. So it allows for more flexibility. Is this true? That is why DSE is simply the best - it provides the best of both worlds - academics open up and so does the placements avenue.
yea aditi i guess u r right about hving both options open after igidr. and if u dont hv any particular interest in non quantitative eco, don't choose jnu.
Thank you for your inputs guys :) This discussion has really helped a lot... In terms of placements, JNU is not bad but not good either. A senior of mine said the mean package was 7-8 lakhs in the previous year whereas at IGIDR, the mean package was 9 lakhs as per the 2010 Annual Report. Not sure of median or mode though :)
ok. any idea about jnu? actually this mean package of 7-8 lakhs is a bit of a surprise for me. so i'm wondering if the catch lies in the number of people getting placed.
I think i need to see an eye specialist as i am not able to locate aditi's name in the waiting list of IGIDR.
Aditi, what's ur real name, if u don't mind.
The point i was trying to drive home was that it is a characteristic of lasting institutions to have a culture which is self sustaining and if someone not belonging to that set of values, system is so fundamentally designed that it makes life miserable for that unbelonging soul. Well, suicides happen at IITs for many reasons.
