If you want to do civil services, IES then u can prefer igidr as in-campus competition is relatively lesser than dse. u can take out time for your personal studies.
In addition infrastructure is way above dse. I mean u get hostel single room accommodation from 1st year onwards.
Last but not the least mumbai delhi se har cheej mein aage to hai hi plus shyamak dawar dance classes.

Hey Anirudh! A fellow engineer here. I too feel the same. IGIDR with it's great student-teacher ratio is probably what draws me there. Having survived four disastrous years (academically), I wish not to have such an experience.

Although given this year's DSE exam, I don't think I have that choice! :-| How about you? Why do you prefer IGIDR? Are you a localite?

A friend of mine got through DSE in the second list last year but chose to remain in IGIDR - her classes had already begun by then apparently and she liked the institute. I have received feedback that DSE has become very crowded - the number of seats have gone up and backlogs, repeats are quite high in number - about 48 people are repeating the year and 76 have a back in ecotrix internals. So yeah, lot of study pressure as internals account for 50% of final score, with no scope to improve your grades. Plus you have to pass the exams to sit for placements - kyunki back toh next sem main clear karna hai- by then companies come for internships. So PPO ka scope gaya if you have a back.

As for approaching professors, some are helpful but most are very busy and tutorials main you will get help from the PHD and MPhil people- thats what i have heard of. For research, one needs a close interaction with the faculty and DSE main it becomes harder cuz you are too busy trying to survive. On the other hand, JNU and IGIDR would be better options if your interests are wider.

DSE provides hostel i think only upto top 30 ranks and hostels are pure sarkari.
jab humne engineering mein maari maari nahi ki toh....fir post grad mein kyu.....Dse is not peaceful in that way.....it is not the place where u can nurture your creativity.
DSE brand is the result of bandwagon effect or bhed chal (in hindi).
Also, it does not suits a top notch national institution to have 50 percent reservation for DU BA eco honours. What a joke is this new VC!

RBI does not come in DSE but comes in ISI and IGIDR.
and MNCs which mainly visit DSE are nothing but outsourcing its ugly work for poor Indians. studies in Dse produce high paid clerks.

DSE campus is ordinary, crowded.......and dse is just like an ordinary School...wohi exam...fir padhai...fir exam...clerical padhai...no time for musing....

This is my personal view....that are constrained by my present stock of knowledge......

I think dse crowd is mainly those students who have got admission directly after their undergraduation. thus they dont have any job experience. for them job is the best thing. they crave for job...MNCs...corporate placements.....
Being an engineer I dont want to study eco for fetching a job. Eco amuses me.....with so indispensably linked with human world yet so rational like mathematics.

Big MNCs==Outsourcing==back end work==data anlytics==SAS EXcel Google search....report making==client calls.....wtf...is this someone's serve his/her country!!!!

kafi phattebazi ho gyi ab padh liya jaye.....

Haha! I too have a similar track. After graduation, did a job, was 'settled', so to say. But soon realised that this isn't for me. Quit job, travelled a bit, studied a bit, and prepared for the entrance. Now, hoping to study with a renewed vigour!

If chance becomes, see you at IGIDR! :)

ISI is the best institute for eco in India.
