okay thank you so much. I got agriculture in the second round. hope for an update in the next round. also there was a lot of dispute over international business as not being considered as a stream for UPSC exams.
MSE is anyday better than GIPE. That is the consensus of various seniors over the years and I have asked last year MSE entrants and GIPE entrants. Everyone has the same say that MSE>GIPE.
Much harder to compare newer institutions I think.
I'd MSE is better if you're looking for placements because it's so well established, SNU would be more risky placement wise, but if you're taking into account quality of faculty and such I'm not so sure anymore.
@pallavi I agree totally with you about faculty not good in MSE I heard placement depends on individual like how smart he or she is. I read in the forum that GIPE placement committee is also getting revamped this year.
These are the words from our seniors. i dont know why only you two are preferring gipe. There should not be any confusion between gipe and MSE:
1. Lately some of the reputed professors of JNU have left but nevertheless it still has good professors but not such great placements.
MSE I have heard offers good placements and its professors are also good.
2. I won't suggest GIPE, the best of faculty is leaving the college.
3.Also they call students for second counselling only if you attend the first counselling (even if you didn't get any seat in your first counselling).
So if you want to do your masters and get a decent job after it you must go for the counselling at the very least.
It's a good college in terms of placements (6.5-13.5 lakh per annum is the placement package like) with about 85 percent people who get placed.
It's a very statistically and mathematically inclined course, if you like that you can go for it.
If you really want to learn economics more into depth and stuff you have to read a lot more along with this college stuff which is quite doable. Lastly yes they don't care about the kids who can't turn because of social issues cause the counselling is usually like a fish market and they couldn't care less about the ones who couldn't make it as they are busy dealing with the ample kids sitting in the auditorium.
The college has very bad management skills.
4. SAU's degree is very well recognised outside of India as well. I'm going for Tufts-Harvard joint program and was accepted at JHU as well, both universities recognised my Masters from SAU, so you don't have to be worried about that.
Hello Aki... you wrote a very good post.. thanku for it
Can you please clarify a few things for me??
In point 3.. you are taking about MSE right???
And also.... Can you help me in deciding between SAU and Gipe(general eco). I am on the fence bw these colleges.
You implied that SAU is relatively quite good overall in terms of future opportunities.... Can you please message your senior who has graduated from SAU about asking the how the faculty and course structure is there? Thanks and god bless :)
