Hey are you guys planning to take up hostel? I emailed them about the procedure as I am from Jamshedpur. They said pay the sem fees and get admitted on 27th the hostel will be allocated later and then pay its fees. I am in a fix as to what to do as the classes also are supp to begin from Aug 1st. So I am still undecided whether I should take all my stuff and reach Chennai by 27th or just take admission and wait till they provide hostel. And Monika and Smriti, I think we have to in person or at least have someone who can go and submit the originals cz I dont think the admission process would be complete without that. Rest lets see. So you guys not going to be there on 27th?

I am in the same situation, I am skeptical of their hostel situation. Did anyone have any look at the hostel while we were there? I couldnt ...

This is going to be sucha mess, untill its all settled.

I am now also inclined towards hunting for accommodation nearby,

Have mailed them hopefully will get a reply and update it here.And the wierd part is they said, you can carry the money for the hostel in cash and when allotted you can get the dd made in Chennai. I mean as far as I remember during counselling they confidentally told us that all outstn candidates would be given hostel seats. And about the hostel I have no clue too, the only bit of info is the tab of "campus life" in their website which sounds fine right now. Have to go and find out. The problem with me is if  I  come back from Chennai on 27th night I will not be able to reach back at least 4 days after that. So if they just put  up a list for the hostel and then tell students have to pay in a day I will be in a soup. So am undecided whether to wait till the hostel is allotted or come back and wait in Jamshedpur.

It will be very tedious to come back and go again. You should try putting up somewhere there only. I am going to, because it doesnt make any sense going to and fro such a large distance. Lets see about the hostel thing, but even if they do allot, I am reluctant as they are likely to provide dormitory or tripe sharing rooms. It would be great if there is some peaceful budget place nearby to live in.....

So are you going to be there on 27th? Do you know anyone else who is going to be there too ... it would be great if we can co-ordinate somewhat .. ottherwise Chennai can be mess......

i have already mailed them n got reply tht hostel allocation will be 1st august onwards ! i have heard from 1 of my senior, whoz already in mse tht new hostel is under construction and tht will take time to get completed. so i have no clue wen will we get the rooms finally. also lately i have heard tht we can send them the admsiion fee and need not be present in person on 27th..bt ill have to call n confim dis 1nce..u guys also do dis..so we can betr do dis if dis option is available..

@Vaibhav Yes Iam planning to do  the same. Stay somehwere in Chennai. As for the hostel will have to look that up too as triple sharing or dorm is a bad option. So might as well use the 2-3 days to look up a place to staynearby. The area seemed posh and well maintained. Lets see. Yes I will be there on 27th.

@Monika so what did your senior say? I mean for girls I heard the rooms are twin sharing already. Is it true? or do we need to wait  forthat till the construction is  complete?

girls can relax as evr1 is gonna get the hostels :) n document verification can be done on 1st aug wen vr called for allocation of rooms..

Yeah but is it twin sharing or dorm? Cz then I  might need to look for places. I mean thats safer then I can look for places over the weekend after 27th.

hey, I am not sure whether it is twin sharing/ triple sharing but I know for a fact that it is not a dorm. And I went to the old hostel it really is not bad in any way!! And from the news I heard, the hostel things should get sorted out by 30th/31st. I am not sure but that's what I heard. Or else I am sure by Aug 1st it should be fine. My suggestion would be to stay on campus as travelling in Chennai without your own vehicle can get quite cumbersome. Triple sharing is normally the average trend around most hostels so it's not all thaaaat bad. :)

realy you did? So do they have internet connectivity at the hostels or we need to have our own arrangements for that? Any  clue? And no triple sharing is fine.

Another thing. Are you guys fillingup the  form and getting it? I mean it has a medical declaration form as well!

hostel is pretty decent and as per my knowledge is twin sharing, dey hav a lan conection as of now..n once admision fee is submitted on 27th, mse will publish a list of students who get hostel by 31st. then dos students can move in by 1st aug .. :)..this is to the best of my knowledge..also v can send dem the fee by dd bfr 27th by writing ur name and cource selected..
