Hii Shefali
I have a friend who just passed out from Gipe this year. Well i phoned him up and asked about the same. First of all let me tell you ,academically general eco in Gipe is just a bit extension of Du bachelor hons of Eco. So if you think you will learn something new i'm sorry , there's nothing new. He told me one can paas even studying a night before. So there is nothing challenging in it. Also the placemnts of it are just average, about 40-50% with 4.5 lakhs avg.Mainly Genpact hires. But if you want a two year holiday then you can go there(These were his words, quoted) Now coming to MSE, general eco there is very good both acamedically and placement wise. You will learn new things there.Plus placement is quite decent with 6 lakhs average. So for general eco, MSE anyday girl. A point he told me about GIPE. Pune is a place for Ganja(drugs). Many hostel students just smoke ganja whole day. |
Coming to Financial eco you can choose either. There is not much difference between the two. In financial eco (gipe) you will learn new things (those thinking academically) and placement is better than general eco there (those thinking about placements).
In MSE also the curicullum is very good. So choose either, doesn't make much of a difference. **The advantage of MSE over GIPe is that MSE is an established brand, Madras School of Economics and it has a tie up with many companies. Also this friend of mine said choosing general eco of gipe over MSE doesnt benefit you both academically and also placement wise you wont be hired for a good package. So choose wisely.Cheers!!! |

Hey Shefali.. Have you booked a seat in GIPE? And which course?
|
The choice between the two depends on the courses that u get. Which course have u booked ur seats in gipe in and what is ur score in mse?

@TheVillain , you've put it nicely. No one better to comment than a recent graduate or a current student. Would really love to see a MSE grad to shine some light on the environment there!!

i met an MSE guy during the IGDIR interview...so will jst tell what he had to say..placements were around 70%. the course is not exactly rigorous ....hostel and food are major negative points....facluty is ok but apparently they have very decent visiting faculty....the mathematics faculty is reportedly not very good.

Hi Shefali !!
Some one by the name GIPE commented here ( he s a gipe pass out ) , have a look ! http://discussion-forum.2150183.n2.nabble.com/who-all-think-msc-economics-general-in-gipe-is-no-less-than-the-same-in-mse-td7594342.html

thank you anjali for referring to GIPE's helpful comments on the post.
i have been struggling with the same gipe v/s mse choice for the past several days. i see that i can safely avoid going to chennai for the counselling on 14th. but a harder choice i have to make now is between gen eco @GIPE and dev eco @SAU, until other results are out. i have been through both their course structures. if i could please have opinions on which of SAU and GIPE could offer a more wholesome learning experience in terms of both acads and otherwise. (i'm from delhi) thanks |
Anytime @ps !
See SAU is still in its infant stage , but it has got a really good faculty plus there is global exposure . And yes , its in the capital , another advantage ! But this course will not make you eligible for IES ( so if you are keen on pursuing it , you may simultaneously apply at IGNOU for general eco ) . GIPE is an established name . There are placements plus its a nice place to live. Faculty not as good as SAU. So each course has its own advantages and disadvantages. You have to judge wisely ( incorporating the opportunity cost and weighing it against the benefits you expect to derive ) . Good Luck !!

Definitely MSE is better. I can say that with guarantee because my own real brother is a MSE pass out and my cousin sister is in GIPE right so I've heard about both the colleges . MSE offers you a better placement and the faculty there is pretty amazing and also you get a lot of exposure there. If you get MSE then you shouldn't think twice about taking it up :)
