Why do u feel that u have wasted almost everything? U are just 23.(Amit Sir told me that may people enroll in masters at age of 25-26). Look people keep doing things which they don't like their whole life. U have at least discovered what ur passion is/ what u actually like. and trust me while failure may appear quite intimidating now, few years down the line u would not even remember this day. It is perfectly human to feel as failed/frustrated/looser(We all have such moments in our lives) but today's failure would make way for tomorrow's success.for u my friend this poem:

you know sometimes even i hv felt like this... sometimes you think that you have wasted a lot of time which you could have utilised better .well don't think like that .nothing is ever wasted .every moment teaches us something even though we may not realise it that time ...just live in the moment .follow your impulses . and stop thinking for some time and take an off from this whole world and just do whatever you like ... and then when you have calmed down and your mind is in a better position to think properly .. ponder over your life and what mistakes you made and try to understand yourself  as in what is the think without which you can't live.. what is the thing which you want to do before you die .. life is precious ..make best use of it and follow your impulses ...never burden yourself with things and responsibilities .. it's ok yo be careless sometimes and stop thinking about the future just live every moment as if you are going to die today only and ponder what you would have done had that been  true and as lovekesh said the no. of hours don't matter .what matters is the energy you put into those hours... and smart work does matter coaching may be able to give you a direction .. abd lastly relax and for some time pursue your hobbies or anything you like ...it will help you reenergise yourself  and be very strong hearted .. world is going to be mean .. and don't think too much about getting settled  and all .. you have been able to sustain yourself and you'll be able to do it now also .. and don't think about past or the future they are just shadows of time .. today is the only cash in hand utilise it well .. sorry if got overboard with my philosophy ..life may be bad ...life may crush you but its still worth living ... its just your test of will ..stand tall and face it ..! all the bestand age is a subject of mind over matter if u don't mind it doesn't matter ! just live in the moment :-) nd yes you can watch comedy shows they r best at destressing!

Nad yes..@ regained hope(i dont like the name u hae used , so i would like to use this )....Look aroun ..everyone is not settled...I am not...many on this forum are not...And when u will go to look in this world....no one in true sense is...Even those who are settled right now, for sure have one thng -what next ...so learn to appreciate the time..and do what you can next..and yes this advice is not coming from a winner , but still -smile :) Good luck

@abhi... i agree that after few years this time wouldn't hold value but dealing with parental pressure,society etc burdens me down... even if i get the courage to move forward..to try again... nobody else around me (as in my family) seems to understand and thats puts me down then.... but thanks for this wonderful poem :)

@maahi: i will try to divert my mind .... the problem i feel is that even if one wants to enjoy life their own way..there's a pressure from all ends that comes in... i mean ..i really dnt giv a damn about who is doing what in my society as i feel its their life n they will decide for their own when the time comes..however when it comes to myself it feels like the world world is bothered abt why is she NOt doing anything fruitful (preparing for entrances is clearly not seen as a fruitful thng to do in society i feel) and sometimes infact even now i have soo many hobbies soo many wishes that i want to fulfill....but i feel helpless that nobody understands (u did..n im  happy fr that :) ) thanks for ur kind words maahi...

@ram: u wnt believe but i haven't met anybody for the past 8 months..! i haven't gone out in this time n all ive done is study... i jst know 1thng that i love studying economics..it gives me satisfaction when i understand the working of a particular theory/model etc.. and my friends too are gettng married or have high paying jobs..go shopping every weekend basically are independent... and i knwo the fat packages wnt b of mch value as time moves forward..u have to b happy in what ur doing and for that u have to be on the preferred track of life... i have found my interest...i have found my happiness...just want to be put on "that track"

@smriti: u know smriti...ull develop interest in financial economics..if u have ever had an interest in money markets.financial tools,stock markets etc etc... but even if u dnt u chalk out ur long term goals and then decide for urself.... i knw im no one to say anything as i myself am nowhere...Also time is a very big factor i agree..lets hope the right time comes for all of us here..

Hey man.... just know this.. everyone has been in deep shit at one or the other point in their life, for some its worse, for some its not so worse.

I know things would seem bleak now... personally I have been there myself.. and no matter what anyone says... its only you who bear the bleakness of mind and its only you who have to get out of the funk and see everything clearly....

Just have 'genuine' faith in your abilities ..for they are the only true source of motivation, and optimism. As you said, reading economics was fun for you, you liked doing it... that already stands you out from the crowd for majority are just doing things because they are supposed to do..not because they particularly like that thing ... One thing which I feel is amazing of people here on the forum is that people are analyzing their likes or fancies ... I for one havnt seen this in very many places .. people are are truly amazing.. indeed different from the lots.

With that being said, you also have to figure out where you went wrong .. this is something I am also doing for me too didnt quite succeed at what I wanted to do. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and look for the way forward... I know its better said than done, but in the end it has to be done. Because without recognizing your mistakes, you are at risk of repeating them. One has to be self-critical, but in a positive way.

One thing a teacher of mine once said, " During the course of a war, you have to fight many battles. You win some , you lose some but ultimately winning the war matters, not the small battles."
