Population growth doubt

I'm trying to do this way
120=100(1+r)^10
But from this step, how do I find 'r'?
Pls do help.

its less than 2%.. follows simply from this logic : Exponential growth is much faster than Simple linear growth (agreed?) ... and here in this question the average rate of growth would be 2% p.a (not exponential).. so therefore exponential growth rate would be less than 2% ofcourse.... I know its a JNU question and ans is less than 2%.
