SPECIALIZED SUBJECTS UNDER ECONOMICS MASTERS

Are MA students of any specialized subject under Economics , e.g. MA in Devt. Eco or Applied Eco or in Environmental Eco or Financial Eco, eligible to apply for NET/SLET for economics and then choose a career of teaching Economics further???? Please please clarify this to me, someone!
