Tanu, you have a 2 month summer break b/w the 1st and 2nd year of your masters. So, firstly internships help you utilize that time. Secondly, it gives you some exposure of the field you are interested in and may help in your decision making. Also it may help you in getting acquainted with some statistical tools.

Could anybody please suggest any type of research or fellowship institute where graduate students can also apply? Most of the places mentioned above require those students who are persuing their masters. So is there any institute for graduated students also? As i would probably give entrance exams for MA next year too, so what all various options are open for me which not only enhance my learning but saves my one year too!! Please help friends. Its really urgent!!

@Xyz , practically , internship or 1 year diploma , never saves the gap year. If you are planning to apply in the corporate , this year , will be counted as a gap year in your academic records. So the only way to save it is - job , or take regular admission in some college voluntarily or via agent ( you will not have to attend classes in that case ) . However , if the sole purpose of taking an internship or diploma is for enlightening your mind , then definitely go ahead. In research , gap year is not given much importance.
In which field are you planning to specialise in your masters ? One way could be , to approach the professors , on your own ( better if you personally know someone ) , and take internship under them. Or you can join a diploma course under any finance or other research institute. There are many private colleges which provide diploma in various courses. Google !!

Again , MA from an open university will not save your gap year. If you are planning to give exams next year , then you can try these combinations - coaching/self prep + MA from IGNOU , coaching/self prep + MA from IGNOU+ PG diploma/internship/job.
You do one thing , first just google the institutes that provide PG diploma/internship in economics. And then decide , accordingly , the course you are compatible with. Don't stress yourself , and sort out a way that would prepare you best for the exams. Travel , join some hobby class , take internship , learn from people around you , and last but not the least , optimize.
