1: Suppose the critical region for a test statistics S in a given test of significance is given by S1<=S<=S2.Suppose that the probability (S<S1)=0.3 and prob.(S>S2)=0.45. what is the level of significance being used in carrying out this test ?
a:0.03   b:0.48     c:0.52    d:0.42

2.There are two villages A &B. An equal number of households,say200, live in A and B.Total agricultural land in each village is 200 hectares.the median land holdings is 0.5 hectares in A and 1 hectare in B.What can you say about inequality of land distribution in A and B ?
a:Inequality is more in A than B       b:inequality is less in A than B  c: inequality is same in A&B
d: any of the above can be true

3:consider a polity consisting of N individuals.A proportion ,p, of individuals are rich and rest are poor. Each of the N individual dies , leaving behind a child . Income mobility satisfies in this polity 2 rules: -if the parent is rich , the child turns out to be rich with probability a

For 2 the answer is A, median can be used to determine inequality - as far as i know, median land holding is used in research very frequently.
For soc A, half of popn has < 0.5 hect and other half has >0.5
for soc B, half of popn has <1 hect and other half has >1 hect
but popn is equal and so is the total land
so A is more unequal than B
