Well for starters in 2016, they started late and even told us that they'd wait for those DU students who were flying into chennai late.
Then many announcers with and without mike, began to take our signatures, registering our arrival. Then they sorted us into a new 'rank list'.
They put students with disability, armed officers children and kashmiri migrants up front. Then a unified general merit list followed. This unified list was formed using CUCET scores and disregarding caste quotas. Students from OBC, SC, ST who had enough marks were included into this 'unified general list'. Caste certified students had the option of opting out of this 'unified general list' if they did not get their preference, say Financial Eco. They could jump back into the category merit list for that, to obtain their preference, in this case Financial Eco.
Those who did not have provisional degree or transfer certificate had to deposit a class 10 or 12 marksheet original, in order to secure a seat. These documents have to be submitted by 17th October, but the taken marksheet prevents you from applying elsewhere.
We were told that if there were vacancies, General students in this unified list would not get a chance again to climb up to their preference. For them it was a straight road, with no returning. No second list for those in the first list.
We were told that if there were enough vacancies to bother the faculty, the slide rule would initiate, and provisionally admitted students could climb up to their preference.
The hostel will be given to outstation students on merit basis only.
In short, a chutzpah of organisation, announcements, almost broken dreams, all of which sorted by caste, disability and merit.
