I think its Binomial (B(n, p)). For this case, n=2, p=1/2.

after posting this ques here I noticed that in the "instructions"', right at the beginning of the ques paper, it was clearly mentioned B is binomial distribution. solving it assuming a bin distribution immediately gives the ans.

the guy who prepared the solution/hint solved it by assuming it to be a Beta distribution and arrived at a different ans. this is what got me confused.

for binomial just add (good news is n is just 2)
E[u(X)] = Sigma (x=0 to x=2)[u(x)f(x)]
we know X~bin(2,1/2)
u(x)= 2/(1+x)

if X~bin(n,p) then f(x) = nCx * p^x * (1-p)^(n-x) , x=0,1,2,3,4 ...n
                               
so for n=2 and p=0.5; f(x)=2Cx (.5)^n , x=0,1,2
