The obvious deduction from this is that more number of people must have applied for general eco over financial eco so that's probably why the scores of people who have gotten into general eco is higher than that of financial eco. Simple demand and supply. Again I am not sure, this is just what I think is the case.

yes thats the reason. Lot many people apply for General Economics. So their cutoff is a bit more than the cut off for Financial !

I am confused as to what they are going to do at the counselling. Is it a personal interview? Any ideas?

Hi ! Its the admission process i guess. My cousin's don't her MSc from MSE so i know there aren't any interviews. I am coming down on 5th for counseling. And no i haven't written GIPE !

Even guys in IIT Bombay are not happy with their faculty, what really makes them what they are is their hard work and resources they get from the institute. So, you can factor out faculty from your consideration. All you need is sufficient enough prof who can solve your doubts and a pretty fat Library.

@a.m-do u have any idea of whether des guys are gonna keep the orignals during the admision?? most probably ill also go chennai for the 1st councelling. and is financial eco better there or its jst a matter of choice ??

Hey Monika,
The information pdf that they sent says that they will retain a COPY of all the documents. Also you get to choose only if you have made it to both the courses. :)
