Cut off will be 40 only. Can't be lower than that, can it?

Nope it will be a lower bound at 40. As written in the brochure, to be elligible for admission through entrance mode, a person HAS to get 40

Yeah I know, but I find their system weird. So what happens if they set an incredibly difficult paper, and not enough people get more than 40 marks? Do they leave the seats empty, or fill them up using merit, or what?

In ques 13, uniform distribution , answer key given says that mean doesn't depend on length of the interval but Variance does. Why ??
Shouldn't ans be option d? Both depends on length of the interval

Re: DSE 2015 discussion

50? are you joking man? cutoff will be same as last year pakka. It was very much like last year, it wasn't easier. last year had terribly tough micro and macro, this year had very tough maths and stats and pretty dicey micro

I have spoken to quite a few people, barely 40 cross ho raha hai. And I am talking about people who are otherwise pretty darn good

Length of interval is (b-a)

Mean is (a+b)/2, which is not a function of (b-a)
Variance is (1/3)((b-a)^2+3ab), which is a function of (b-a)

In question 22, the MRS for the 3 consumers is y/x , 3y/x and y/2x . If the price ratio is 1, the budget line has a slope of 1. For simultaneous utility maximisation, y/x=3y/x=y/2x=1. Final bundles (1,1) (3,9) (8,4). Isn't this correct? I think B and D are both correct.

Re: DSE 2015 discussion

I started the answer taking a price ratio of 1, but I definitely remember hitting a snag. Can't exactly remember what the issue was but I got Excess demand for Y. The correct price ratio I finally got was 5/3 (px/py>1)

BTW Onionknight, what is your calculated score according to the answer key?
