Answer to Q 28 is (d), we cannot say which population has the greater range or skewness.
In each of the following situations, Population A has a larger standard deviation (SD) than population B:
Situation 1 Population: A = {0,1}, B = {1,1} Features: SD(A) > SD(B) and Range(A) > Range(B)
Situation 2 Population: A = {-1,-1,-1,-1,-1,1,1,1,1,1}, B = {-2,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,2} Features: SD(A) > SD(B) but Range(A) < Range(B)
Similar examples can be constructed to show that higher standard deviation does not imply higher skewness either. Try that yourself.
